Tips to Help Overcome Feelings of Anxiety

It’s important to be mindful of your mood and feelings on a daily basis in order to look after your health and well-being. Being healthy is as much a state of mind as it is about the foods we consume.

If you or someone you love are showing symptoms of anxiety, consider implementing a few simple lifestyle changes that can help!

    Ideas to Help Overcome Anxiety

    1. Lavender Essential Oil

According to doTERRA, a leader in the essential oil industry, lavender oil is a must have oil on hand for a variety of benefits, namely calming and tension relief. Simply add a few drops of Lavender oil to pillows, bedding, or bottoms of feet at bedtime or add 2-4 drops into a diffuser with water to promote a good night sleep.

Tip: be sure you are using a certified therapeutic grade essential oil that has 100% of the appropriate sourced ingredients. Also consider adding it to a carrier oil (such as coconut oil, avocado oil, olive oil, etc) before using topically if you have sensitive skin.

    2. Vitamin D

Try getting at least 15minutes of natural sunlight per day. This is the best, most natural and easiest way to increase your vitamin D levels. This vitamin is known to decrease the symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Consult our blog Vitamin D – Benefits of the Sunshine Vitamin for more information.

    1. Epsom Salts

A warm, soothing bath always has a calming effect and the addition of Epsom Salts will add some extra benefits. The magnesium sulfate in the salts has been known to calm anxiety, lower blood pressure and soothe tension.

Tip! Consider adding your favorite calming essential oil (Lavender, Chamomile, etc) for even more calming effects!

    4. Healthy Diet

The following foods are known to relieve tension, reduce stress and improve your overall mood.

    • Blueberries & peaches
    • Whole grains rich in magnesium
    • Avocado, eggs, fortified dairy and fortified grain
    • Oranges (Vitamin C)
    • Eggs and Fish (Omega-3 fatty acids)
    • Dark leafy greens (Magnesium)
